Inspired: No Regrets

WIN_Who Is Next_Team B

“The gods asked me if I wasn’t gonna regret this. But I answer without hesitating, why would I regret?” (Team B-Climax)

About 6 months ago, I did an ‘Inspired’ post for one of WINNER’s songs, and, recently, I haven’t been able to stop listening on one of Team B’s songs, so I decided to do one for theirs, too (Even though they’re technically not an actual K-Pop group or anything).

The lyrics above are from B.I’s rap, which is my favourite part of the entire song. The entire song is really meaningful and inspiring, but B.I’s part was what really struck me when I first listening to the song, and the lyrics of not only his part but the overall song is the main reason why I love this song so much.

I think the lyrics for this apply not only to the competition they were in, but a lot of things in general (Or at least to many idols). This is one song that I will probably always feel a little bittersweet about, because it’s not only inspiring but also filled with a lot of emotion.

“Even if this is my last time, I will sing without regrets.”

[2 Days Until Christmas] Countdown to Christmas…Favourite K-Pop MVs!

So…we are so close to Christmas…and the countdown is almost over!

Today’s list is my absolute favourite K-Pop Mvs of all time. I know I previously did a post on my favourite Youtube videos, but that was on my favourite ones from this year.

I would like to also mention Taeyang’s “Wedding Dress”…another one of my favourites. And K.Will’s “Please Don’t…”. Not only touching and sad, but also incredibly unexpected and memorable.

1) Why Did I Fall In Love With You-DBSK: This MV was really sad, but I really liked the plot. It wasn’t like a lot of MVs where there seems to be a plot, but it’s non-sensical…this one was not only good, but sad.

2) Haru Haru-Big Bang: Big Bang has a lot of good MVs…but this one is my absolute favourite out of all of them. I still cry when I watch it.

This post was pretty difficult for me…there are so many good MVs to choose from! Of course, all of these songs are also some of my absolute favourites. A good song definitely needs a great MV!

[8 Days Until Christmas] Countdown to Christmas…K-Pop!

Edit: I’m so sorry guys…I accidentally scheduled this post on the Wednesday of next week (the 24th) instead of the 17th (The previous post was actually created on the 16th…Wordpress has weird time stamps). So here it is…a day late, though…

An honourable mention goes to Boyfriend for ‘Obsession’…while it didn’t make it on the list, this really was an amazing release and I had a hard time deciding whether or not to put it on.

Today’s post is about my 8 Favourite K-Pop songs of 2014! Can’t do favourites without putting some K-Pop in there…

1) Eyes, Nose, Lips-Taeyang: Many of you probably expected this…it was pretty popular. And it is my favourite K-Pop release of 2014. Tablo’s English cover of it was also awesome.

2) Danger-BTS: This song was seriously addictive (I still play it, even now). Plus, that amazing dance…? I still can’t forget it. I thought it was definitely one of the best releases of the year.

3) Singing Got Better-Ailee: I really liked the MV for this song, and her vocals are just so powerful…plus, the song lyrics really got to me. This song definitely has a place in my heart.

4) Angel (1004)-B.A.P: The lyrics for this song, the MV and that creative use of ‘1004’…I really loved not only this song, but this entire album.

5) Error-VIXX: The MV for this song really got to me, along with the lyrics…it literally brought me to tears. That makes it not only a favourite, but also a memorable release of 2014. I will never get tired of that MV.

6) Overdose-EXO: I really liked this song…much better than ‘Wolf’, in my opinion. Catchy with a nice dance, plus the album was pretty cool, too.

7) I’m In Love-Secret: Their concept this time was a little different than usual, but I really liked it. This song was stuck in my head for a while after its release, and still sneaks in there sometimes.

8) Evanesce-Super Junior: I made a post about this song a little while back…but it has become one of my favourite releases of 2014. I just can’t stop listening to it!

So there you have it…my 8 favourite K-Pop releases of the year.

VIXX’s “Error” and K-Pop 2014…so much has happened in the past week!

VIXX_Error_Album Jacket

Hey everyone! So…I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving dinner, and got to spend time with your families.

I’m just here to post about K-Pop…since I haven’t really done much of that since starting this blog, and there’s a lot to talk about right now!

Luhan leaving EXO, Lee Joon and Thunder leaving MBLAQ, Sungmin getting married (That’s a good thing, though…unless he leaves Super Junior because of it, but let’s not think about that)…but I decided to focus on the positives instead.

Like all the comebacks we’ve had lately! SPICA and B2ST are coming back soon, and even Big Bang may make a comeback sometime soon (But then again, there’s always rumours about that)…and both BOYFRIEND and VIXX have released new music videos, both with amazing concepts!

But the VIXX one…just totally blew my mind. The MV had an amazing plot, even though it was so short, the concept is another one of my favourites (Second only to ‘Hyde’) and the song is really good, too. Honestly, I’m still getting over how amazing that music video was. It was just…if you haven’t seen it yet, you should definitely check it out.

VIXX always comes out with amazing concepts and music videos, even though they can sometimes be a little creepy (‘Voodoo Doll’, anyone?) but I really love them. Looks like there will be even more albums I’ll have my eye on…which probably isn’t good, considering that I still have to buy my winter skincare stuff and am sort of broke right now…

Despite all of the bad things happening in K-Pop right now (And all of the talk about 2014 being cursed, and can’t it be over already?), at least there are some things to bring our spirits up a little!

Inspired: Confession

“Just stay by my side…this is my confession.” (WINNER (Taehyun Solo)-Confession)

My current obsession is this song…this entire album, actually. This may be one of my favourite songs (And favourite line) from the album.

The song is sweet and the piano in it is really pretty…Taehyun’s voice sounds great and, with everything together, it’s just a really nice song to listen to. It makes me smile every time.

Close second:

“Ring ring, please pick up the phone that must be ringing at your side…don’t make my cry, too. I keep saying this is the last, last time but I keep calling.” (WINNER-Color Ring)

This album really is worth a listen…maybe you’ll find that you love it as much as me (Or maybe not…but hey, we’re all different).

[Rant] Wait…Who Became What?

ZEA_Lee Hoo_Junyoung_준영

Okay, so I follow K-Pop news sort of…by that, I mean I just click on whatever shows up on my newsfeed (And a lot shows up on my newsfeed). So I’m sort following that whole Z:EA threatening this (very shady) Star Empire company, wondering what will happen and all (I mean…a K-Pop idol is finally standing up for themselves), and then I suddenly stumble upon this article one evening:

ZE:A’s leader Lee Hoo announces big changes to Star Empire and their contract

Well…okay. Hello new CEO who apparently changes his statement faster than I can keep up. I can’t really figure the guy out, but I don’t seem to be the only one.

I’ve seen so many Netizens debating over whether he truly fought for rights, whether those initial tweets were cries for help and whether he’s satisfied with just getting the extra money (I’ve seen, and I quote: “7:3…? I would shut up, too”.).

Honestly, there’s something that I think should apply to every situation, including this one, and it’s “You’ll never know the whole truth”. Along with, “There’s three sides to every story…his, hers and the truth”. Obviously, in this case, there’s no ‘her’, but you get the message.

Yes, we’re curiously, especially when it has something to do with our ‘Oppa’ and, at least me for me, particularly since it has to do with an idol actually truly speaking up for once. Yes, we know about the conditions and pressure, yes, most of us knew about the shadiness of Star Empire beforehand. But no, we can’t be sure of anything so why bother trying to really figure out what’s happened? Even if we did, would that matter?

All we know is this: Lee Hoo threatens the CEO, tells the public about how horrible they’ve been treated under Star Empire, they have a ‘discussion’, and *bam*, changes to the company.

Rather than debating this and that and trying to figure out what exactly was said behind closed doors and whose motives were what (Oh, human curiosity), can’t we all just be content and move on? This may not be the best ending, and sure, this seems suspicious and something is probably up (I’ve seen everything from “He just wanted money” to “He must know some huge secret about the CEO”) but, in the end, we love idols for their music and looks and whatnot.

We don’t know them, and most of us never will…it’s the reality that comes with loving a celebrity. So let’s just say, “Hey, this ended without going to court or something equally frustrating or something worse” and move past this.

Past is the past, especially when it’s the past of people who might as well be strangers to us.

To anyone who may actually know Lee Hoo or the CEO, well…good for you. Too bad the rest of us don’t have the knowledge you may have. So I suppose we’ll just have to deal with that and accept that fact and rather than speculating…and, despite all of this, I will probably go through pretty much the same feelings once the next scandal starts.

It’s always the same thing, no matter what the scandal is…there are pretty much 4 types of people on the forums:

1) People who seem to enjoy pointing out the idol’s mistakes and saying things like “horrible human being”, “never supporting him/her (again)”, “just in it for the money” and the totally unnecessary “s/he should die” (Really people?)

2) The “no matter what I’ll always support you” fans (Who usually get bashed by other people)…but, seriously…if they can’t change your opinion, you probably can’t change theirs, so I never understood the people the waste so much time arguing with eachother knowing the other will never change, no matter how many times you call call them “cruel to the idol” or a “delusional fan”.

3) The some what more in between people who make comments such as “Yes, s/he was wrong…but this may not be what we think” or “I used to be/still is a fan, and I didn’t expect this from him/her, but I don’t think they deserve people leaving bashing them like this”

4) The people who just read the comments (Me)

There is one last thing that I’ll say before I go though…I may sound cruel, but this is just me: I never knew the idol and didn’t like them for their personality (Which is at least partially fabricated for the cameras), but for their talent. Just because they did something wrong doesn’t mean their acting/characters/songs/whatever are any worse. I may not condone their actions or I may shake my head and say I didn’t expect that and lose respect for them, but I’m not going to suddenly never again watch a drama/MV I loved before. The scandal and the drama/MV have no relation other than the idol…and what’s wrong with the rest of the cast/producers?

Just thought I’d add my 5 cents. Please continue with whatever you were doing prior to stumbling upon this rambling of mine.

Jay Park’s “2013 Appetizer”

Jay Park_2013 Appetizer

So…I can’t believe I missed it when I first came out, but I never knew he had a song like this until my friend mentioned it and I had no idea what she was talking about.

After the standard Youtube lyric video searching, I found out that this song was in English, mostly…and, after listening to some of the lyrics, probably banned in Korea or something.

I guess it feels sort of strange when K-Pop idols swear, mostly because they rarely do…but I don’t really find that’s the case with Jay Park. Maybe it’s because, since he left 2PM, he’s been coming out with a lot of songs that are sort of like this. But, for some, this one stuck out…maybe because of that “definitely not suitable for broadcast in Korea” 1st verse? I don’t know.

Anyhow, I was a little astonished at first (I think K-Pop has made me a little too innocent), but then it really started to grow on me.

I even have a favourite part now:

“My name is Jay Park and I’m nice in two languages/ Check it out (Hah)” and then I get a total curveball thrown at me because he switches languages so flawlessly. Yes, he is definitely very nice no matter what language he’s speaking.

The one thing I can’t get over, though, is this:

“Man I jam jam boogie dog/Jam jam boogie dog”/Jam jam boogie (what? what?)” I’m the one who should be saying ‘what’. I know there’s almost always a little bit of weird, non-sensical English (Engrish) in K-Pop so I suppose I should just learn to tune these sorts of things out, but I think I have a harder time getting over this one because, well…Jay knows fluent English.

And it’s that line that’s repeated over, and over, and over in the song, too.

Sigh…I guess the Engrish really is unescapable. Well, at least this is still a pretty good song…even if I can’t take the chorus seriously.
