Hot Chocolate In A Jar~

Hi everyone!

Mason-Jar-Gift-Ideas-13

So, today I decided to share a quick and easy gift idea with you guys (Which I may have mentioned in a previous post…). Recently, I had to get a gift for someone that I didn’t know very well and saw hot chocolate in a jar being sold in some stores for around $10.00, which I thought was a little crazy. So I decided to just make my own.

I basically just bought these little packets of hot chocolate, a bag of marshmallows and a jar. Quite simple, really.

It was definitely cheaper than buying it pre-made, and I could combine different hot chocolate flavours (After Eight hot chocolate, anyone?).

I got 8 hot chocolate packets for around $4.00, marshmallows for around $2.00 and the jar for around $1.50. So, altogether, it only cost ~7.50. Not bad, right?

I ended up with a lot of leftover marshmallows, though, which I used for my hot chocolate on a sticks. I’ll probably save the rest for hot chocolate during Christmas, or just to snack on.

You could also get those tins of hot chocolate that go for around $3.00 each, which would be enough for around 2 or 3. So, really, you don’t have to spend much to put together this gift.

It’s really easy to put together, too…hot chocolate is basically everywhere right now (At least, where I am) and so are marshmallows. I got my jars from the dollar store, but you could probably find some in a bunch of other stores.

I like to put each element (The hot chocolate, marshmallows) in a little cellophane bag and then put in some chocolate or other sweets to fill up the rest of the jar. Then I tie a pretty ribbon around it as a finishing touch.

They’re super easy to customize…you can add anything you want to, really. Like in the above picture, you could add candy cane bits and chocolate chips if you want, add spices for spiced hot chocolate, or even make your own mix! Really, it’s all up to you and who you’re planning on giving this to.

So…if you’re still looking for a cheap and easy last-minute gift idea…you might want to consider this.

Thanks for stopping by~

It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year~

IMG_6457.JPG

I’m sure most of you know this song, and many of you are probably tired of it, but hey…I can’t get tired of Christmas.

I pretty much have everything I need, save for a few small stocking stuffer type things. And by that, I mean the little chocolates and such that I put in with people’s gifts.

Also, the hot chocolate on a stick idea that I talked about in a previous post turned out pretty nicely. I plan to wrap these in some cellophane and add a bow for the perfect finishing touch. I’ll probably give them out with peppermint candy canes, so people can make peppermint hot chocolate if they wish.

Thinking about different things I can make for people and how I can put together great presents within my limited budget can be difficult, but it’s always fun. Browsing the stores and trying to think of creative ways to package things and then that moment when an idea hits…it’s all part of the fun of the holidays.

Anyways, I hope you all are having a great holiday season so far…Christmas is so soon…I simply can’t wait!

Sweater Weather

So it’s been getting chillier lately (But at least the weather’s been nice and sunny), and it feels like it’s pretty much time to break out the sweaters. As much as I’ll miss my graphic tees and flowy tops (And trust me, they will be missed), I’m a little excited to start wearing sweaters.

Warm and comfy, and they’re a sign of how close we’re getting to real winter weather…which is really exciting (At least, for me…I know quite a few people who would disagree)! All the possible snowfall, and just sitting around sipping hot chocolate…even the thought makes me happy.

I bought a few new sweaters during sales in the summer, and I’m happy that I’ll finally be able to wear them out and show them off. Plus, all those cardigans and blazers that have been buried in the bottom of my closet have finally been being put to use this past little while.

The change is nice…and, next year, I’ll feel the same sense of excitement when unpacking my summer clothes and anticipating being able to wear my chiffon tops once again.

For now, though, I’m content with the prospect of soon being able to snuggle up in a cozy sweater indoors with a nice mug of hot chocolate, looking out at the snowy scene outside…that sounds so incredibly clichéd, but hey…it does sound nice, doesn’t it?

Side Note: I’ve only recently discovered that this was an actual song…and by recently, I mean just now when I was trying to look for a picture to put on this post and searched up ‘Sweater Weather’ and got pictures and videos of this band. Well…you learn something new everyday, I guess.
