Happy Valentine’s Day!

Hey everyone! I hope you’ve all been having a great Valentine’s day so far (Or Singles Awareness Day, which is cool too).

It seems like everywhere I go, I’m surrounded by pink and red fluff and lace and, of course, chocolate. Oh, and florists. Can’t forget florists and their multi-coloured roses.

I’m already anticipating all the chocolate that will go on sale starting tomorrow…I know that sounds a little sad, but hey…you can never have enough chocolate. At least, that’s what I think.

Anyways, just wanted to stop by and say Happy Valentine’s Day, and I hope you have a great one!

Happy New Year!

It hasn’t even been a year since I started this blog, but I feel like I’ve gotten quite a lot done…and I got it up and running, which is pretty much all I wanted in the first place.

I want to thank every again for coming to read my posts, and everyone who will in the future.

I hope everyone has an amazing New Year and that this year will be even better than the last!

[6 Days Until Christmas] Countdown to Christmas…Holiday Moments!

So…I thought I should get a more festive post in here, so here it is.

Hot Chocolate_Candy Canes

Holiday moments…I’m sure we all have different things that we do every holiday with our family and friends, but here are my 6 favourite holiday moments.

1) Chats over hot cocoa: That might sound like a pretty normal thing, but I associate it with the holidays. These happen a few times during the holidays…after some Christmas shopping with friends or sometimes I’ll go out with my family just go to get some nice hot cocoa, sit down and have a nice chat.

2) Decorating the tree: A family tradition. This one really gets me in the holiday spirit and it’s a really fun thing for everybody to get together and do.

3) Strolls in the snow: There aren’t many places open on Christmas, so my family just goes outside to enjoy the snowy scenery. A snowball fight is just as likely to happen as a chat.

4) Christmas movies: Getting together with family or friends to watch a good old Christmas movie is another one of my favourite things to do during the holidays.

5) Christmas shopping: Yes, this is a hectic experience for many. But I actually like browsing different stores to try to find the perfect gifts. While I’m a fan of online shopping, I’m still a firm believer in going out there and actually physically browsing and shopping. I especially love going with family or friends. The more the merrier!

6) Christmas mornings: My favourite day of the year…and I love Christmas mornings. Everyone is content after a good night’s sleep and I finally get to find out if the gifts I picked out were good ones. And then comes the many small little moments with family that happen throughout the day that I really treasure.

So…that’s it! Makes me feel a little nostalgic whenever I think of these since I’ve done most of them since I was a kid.

Hot Chocolate In A Jar~

Hi everyone!

So, today I decided to share a quick and easy gift idea with you guys (Which I may have mentioned in a previous post…). Recently, I had to get a gift for someone that I didn’t know very well and saw hot chocolate in a jar being sold in some stores for around $10.00, which I thought was a little crazy. So I decided to just make my own.

I basically just bought these little packets of hot chocolate, a bag of marshmallows and a jar. Quite simple, really.

It was definitely cheaper than buying it pre-made, and I could combine different hot chocolate flavours (After Eight hot chocolate, anyone?).

I got 8 hot chocolate packets for around $4.00, marshmallows for around $2.00 and the jar for around $1.50. So, altogether, it only cost ~7.50. Not bad, right?

I ended up with a lot of leftover marshmallows, though, which I used for my hot chocolate on a sticks. I’ll probably save the rest for hot chocolate during Christmas, or just to snack on.

You could also get those tins of hot chocolate that go for around $3.00 each, which would be enough for around 2 or 3. So, really, you don’t have to spend much to put together this gift.

It’s really easy to put together, too…hot chocolate is basically everywhere right now (At least, where I am) and so are marshmallows. I got my jars from the dollar store, but you could probably find some in a bunch of other stores.

I like to put each element (The hot chocolate, marshmallows) in a little cellophane bag and then put in some chocolate or other sweets to fill up the rest of the jar. Then I tie a pretty ribbon around it as a finishing touch.

They’re super easy to customize…you can add anything you want to, really. Like in the above picture, you could add candy cane bits and chocolate chips if you want, add spices for spiced hot chocolate, or even make your own mix! Really, it’s all up to you and who you’re planning on giving this to.

So…if you’re still looking for a cheap and easy last-minute gift idea…you might want to consider this.

Thanks for stopping by~

2 More Weeks To Go~

Just 14 days…can you believe it? It’s like time is just flying by…and with each passing day, my excitement grows.

My favourite day of the year…it’s almost here! Spending time with family, giving gifts to loved ones and making memories with friends at holiday parties…there’s just so much to anticipate!

I hope at least a few of you guys reading this right now are as excited as I am…there’s definitely enough Christmas spirit to go around!

As you can probably tell by now, I’ve been counting down the days to Christmas. I don’t know how many posts I’ve made about this, but you can probably expect a few more. I’m sorry guys, it’s just that I’m so happy about this.

Also, as some of you may have seen, I’ve added some new headers to my site. Winter themed ones, of course. You can only imagine how many winter and Christmas themed pictures I have on my desktop…and I just keep adding more every year.

2 weeks…wow. It feels like it shouldn’t be that close to Christmas but, lo and behold, it is.

It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year~

I’m sure most of you know this song, and many of you are probably tired of it, but hey…I can’t get tired of Christmas.

I pretty much have everything I need, save for a few small stocking stuffer type things. And by that, I mean the little chocolates and such that I put in with people’s gifts.

Also, the hot chocolate on a stick idea that I talked about in a previous post turned out pretty nicely. I plan to wrap these in some cellophane and add a bow for the perfect finishing touch. I’ll probably give them out with peppermint candy canes, so people can make peppermint hot chocolate if they wish.

Thinking about different things I can make for people and how I can put together great presents within my limited budget can be difficult, but it’s always fun. Browsing the stores and trying to think of creative ways to package things and then that moment when an idea hits…it’s all part of the fun of the holidays.

Anyways, I hope you all are having a great holiday season so far…Christmas is so soon…I simply can’t wait!

Secret Santa~

Hi everyone! As you’ve probably noticed, more and more of my posts seem to be about Christmas. I suppose that’s just because of my excitement over the holiday…sorry!

Anyways, I’m just going to go ahead and assume that at least a few of you out there have participated in Secret Santa at one point or another in your life.

Don’t you hate it when you get that one person you sort of not really know, but have no idea what to get them as a gift?

And then you think you’ve found something, but it turns out to be over the price limit (Although there always seems to be that one person who goes way over and then claims, “I couldn’t help it” or “It wasn’t that much”…).

Or when you get somebody you know really really well, but you’ve already gotten them a gift and then finding another within the price limit is harder than it should be because you don’t want to disappoint them?

Or that one person who already has pretty much everything.

Yeah…well, I’ve gotten somebody that I’m pretty good friends with, but I have no idea what she would want (That would fit within the price limit). Although we’re not close enough that she would expect an amazing, “Wow this is awesome, exactly what I wanted, you know me so well, thanks!” sort of present (Do those even really exist?), I feel like I should give her something that she’ll at least like…

Maybe I’m just overthinking these things. Maybe I should just go with the generic box of chocolates.

But then the gifter side of me will object…I just know it. I can already hear the, “You can do better…you can find her something she’ll like more!”.

Well…I can only hope that everything will turn out well, I suppose.

Happy December!

It’s finally December…I’m not sure exactly how I feel about this.

I’m really excited about the fact that Christmas is so close…but also a little nervous. Before I can start wrapping the gifts (Or even buy the materials for that), I need to receive all of them first…and that has yet to happen. They shipped around mid-November, so they should be arriving soon, but shipping can be pretty unpredictable, especially around the holiday season. I already have some, I’m just waiting on…well, the bulk of them, actually.

However, I’m happy whenever I see Christmas decorations and such, and I can’t wait to get the tree up this year. Decorating it is one of my favourite Christmas traditions.

So, time’s ticking…but here I am, only able to hope that everything will work out well (And that things will get here soon). Well…at least I have the Christmas spirit floating around to cheer me up.

Now…if only it would start to snow. And then not melt as soon as it hit the ground, or less than 72 hours later.

And So The Search Begins…

The search for what, you may ask? Well…the search for the perfect present, of course!

Yep…it’s that time of year again.

The malls are decorated with sparkling lights and festive displays fill the windows of stores, all of whom are breaking out the “Limited Edition Holiday Sets” (Many of which I am eyeing for after the holidays). And we’re here freaking out, unsure of what to get for those on our list.

“Would she like this?”, “Wait…does she already have this?”, “What in the world would he want…”, “Shopping for guys is hard”…phrases that pop into my mind several times during the holiday season.

That plus the crazy crowds at the malls, especially as it gets closer and closer to Christmas.

I still really enjoy it…the satisfaction of finally finding the perfect gift, and then seeing the smile on their face when they get it…it’s all worth it. I think of it as a way of appreciating your friends and family, and maybe even significant others, and making their day, or their holiday, a little bit better.

I’ll probably spend a lot of time this month racking my brain and scouring the stores for those perfect gifts. At the same time, though, my anticipation and excitement for Christmas will grow.

As frustrating as it can be sometimes, Christmas is still my favourite holiday of the entire year…and it’s getting closer and closer!

52 Days Until Christmas…Go!

Aren’t these sorts of displays just beautiful? I can’t help but feel even more festive looking at them…

Hi everyone! I’m feeling especially cheerful today…or should I say festive? With Halloween over (And it was a fun night…all those fun costumes! And the candy…can’t forget the candy), Christmas preparations are officially a go.

The displays, the lists, the shopping trips…I’m so excited already. Shopping for gifts is always a difficult task (Getting that ‘perfect gift’ can be a bit of a pain sometimes), but it still makes me happy at the end of the day. Then comes wrapping, and of course stopping by somewhere for some hot chocolate, taking pictures of the pretty snow scene…I feel like I’m describing something very clichéd. I probably am. But whatever…I’m sure I’m not the only one out there.

Oh…and I have another reason to come up with some more nail art! This is going to be great…I’m really starting to get into the Christmas spirit. Can’t you tell?

Anyways, I hope at least a few of you out there know what I’m talking about…
