Early Birthday Shopping

tumblr_lficnwKTEL1qfu4j7

So…with Christmas over, stores everywhere are breaking out their “Sale” signs. Which means lots of cheap stuff.

Sure, you can probably find a lot of great stuff for yourself, but I find that this is the best time of year to start buying birthday gifts. Not only is it nice to get it out of the way early (And it’ll be great in case I forget closer to the day of, which tends to happen), there’s so much you could get for so little!

I even get a little bit of extra early Christmas shopping done during this time. Anything that I think will make a nice Christmas gift, plus wrapping and all that kind of stuff, I consider purchasing. Seriously…this is the perfect time to buy wrapping stuff for next year, since a lot of stuff is ~70-75% off at this time. A bag of 50 bows and spools of ribbon for $0.50 each, wrapping paper for $1.50 and cute little gift bags for $0.25 each…it’ll save you a lot of money for the coming Christmas.

I like to make a list of all the birthdays in the coming year and then another detailing what I’ve bought and for what occasion it’s for (Birthday, Christmas, etc.). I generally get notebooks during Christmas, so they’re great to use for this purpose. I also get a lot of gift bags, which go towards organizing all the gifts and such that I’ve bought (Until they can be re-used, that is).

I can never finish all of the Christmas shopping at this time (Since a lot of stuff is sold out and there might be things I want to gift people closer to the date), since it probably isn’t a great idea to buy food and skincare items a year in advance. Getting a nice chunk of it done slowly throughout the year pays off once the holiday shopping season comes around again, though.

2 More Weeks To Go~

thumbnail

Just 14 days…can you believe it? It’s like time is just flying by…and with each passing day, my excitement grows.

My favourite day of the year…it’s almost here! Spending time with family, giving gifts to loved ones and making memories with friends at holiday parties…there’s just so much to anticipate!

I hope at least a few of you guys reading this right now are as excited as I am…there’s definitely enough Christmas spirit to go around!

As you can probably tell by now, I’ve been counting down the days to Christmas. I don’t know how many posts I’ve made about this, but you can probably expect a few more. I’m sorry guys, it’s just that I’m so happy about this.

Also, as some of you may have seen, I’ve added some new headers to my site. Winter themed ones, of course. You can only imagine how many winter and Christmas themed pictures I have on my desktop…and I just keep adding more every year.

2 weeks…wow. It feels like it shouldn’t be that close to Christmas but, lo and behold, it is.

Secret Santa~

secretsanta

Hi everyone! As you’ve probably noticed, more and more of my posts seem to be about Christmas. I suppose that’s just because of my excitement over the holiday…sorry!

Anyways, I’m just going to go ahead and assume that at least a few of you out there have participated in Secret Santa at one point or another in your life.

Don’t you hate it when you get that one person you sort of not really know, but have no idea what to get them as a gift?

And then you think you’ve found something, but it turns out to be over the price limit (Although there always seems to be that one person who goes way over and then claims, “I couldn’t help it” or “It wasn’t that much”…).

Or when you get somebody you know really really well, but you’ve already gotten them a gift and then finding another within the price limit is harder than it should be because you don’t want to disappoint them?

Or that one person who already has pretty much everything.

Yeah…well, I’ve gotten somebody that I’m pretty good friends with, but I have no idea what she would want (That would fit within the price limit). Although we’re not close enough that she would expect an amazing, “Wow this is awesome, exactly what I wanted, you know me so well, thanks!” sort of present (Do those even really exist?), I feel like I should give her something that she’ll at least like…

Maybe I’m just overthinking these things. Maybe I should just go with the generic box of chocolates.

But then the gifter side of me will object…I just know it. I can already hear the, “You can do better…you can find her something she’ll like more!”.

Well…I can only hope that everything will turn out well, I suppose.

Happy December!

December-Christmas-4

It’s finally December…I’m not sure exactly how I feel about this.

I’m really excited about the fact that Christmas is so close…but also a little nervous. Before I can start wrapping the gifts (Or even buy the materials for that), I need to receive all of them first…and that has yet to happen. They shipped around mid-November, so they should be arriving soon, but shipping can be pretty unpredictable, especially around the holiday season. I already have some, I’m just waiting on…well, the bulk of them, actually.

However, I’m happy whenever I see Christmas decorations and such, and I can’t wait to get the tree up this year. Decorating it is one of my favourite Christmas traditions.

So, time’s ticking…but here I am, only able to hope that everything will work out well (And that things will get here soon). Well…at least I have the Christmas spirit floating around to cheer me up.

Now…if only it would start to snow. And then not melt as soon as it hit the ground, or less than 72 hours later.

Less Than 30 Days Until Christmas~

christmas-shopping1

I can’t be the only one getting more excited with each passing day…before we know it, it’ll be Christmas once again!

I still have some shopping to do, and some things to make and plan, but I don’t see any of this as a chore of any sort…in fact, I love it. Maybe I’m just being infected with all the Christmas spirit…or perhaps it’s just me, who knows.

Either way, I always find it so unbelievable how fast December the 25th comes, yet it also seems like I’m waiting forever for it to finally be Christmas. Strange, huh?

However, I at least have a good idea of what I’m giving people for Christmas…and some cute little DIY gifts and wrapping ideas, as well! I have most things planned out, or at least have a good idea of what I want to do, so now I just need to get everything ready and then hope all goes well!

This year I have finally given in to the blessing and curse that is online shopping. A great place to find great deals and gifts for people…but also full of…well, everything you could think of, and all this online shopping will not be good for me. Before, it was mostly only Korean cosmetics, but I can feel it spreading…

Anyways, I hope Christmas preparations are all going well for you guys…and I’ll be back soon with a few last-minute, easy gift ideas (Both store-bought and DIY)!

Waiting For Your Haul…

Brown Parcel

I don’t think I’m the only one who experiences this. At least, I’m pretty sure that I’m not.

When I say this, I mean the anticipation that heightens when they say your packaging is shipping and then some more for a few more days, and then you slowly begin to forget about it.

Then, 3-8 weeks later (Or however long it takes to come…because even though some sites say 2-6 weeks, it never comes in 2 weeks, so…), when it finally comes, there’s that split second of confusion where you wonder why the heck you got a package in the mail.

And then you remember what it is, and you get really really excited.

Then you open it, happily going through the contents (And maybe even getting thrilled over a few samples), and arranging them on your dresser or wherever you put your stuff.

And then, a few months (Or maybe even less…) later, you make another haul. And the process repeats.

Anyways, I’m pretty sure this is what I’m going through right now. I ordered gifts for friends online, and I can’t wait for them to come. And I’m a little paranoid about the unreliability of shipping at the times when I actually need it to be reliable the most (I.e. for gifts and whatnot), so I always order extra early.

So…just another one of my random thoughts. Hope you guys enjoy the rest of your days…I’ll just go about mine, occasionally blogging about it.

And So The Search Begins…

penny-auction-holiday-shopping

The search for what, you may ask? Well…the search for the perfect present, of course!

Yep…it’s that time of year again.

The malls are decorated with sparkling lights and festive displays fill the windows of stores, all of whom are breaking out the “Limited Edition Holiday Sets” (Many of which I am eyeing for after the holidays). And we’re here freaking out, unsure of what to get for those on our list.

“Would she like this?”, “Wait…does she already have this?”, “What in the world would he want…”, “Shopping for guys is hard”…phrases that pop into my mind several times during the holiday season.

That plus the crazy crowds at the malls, especially as it gets closer and closer to Christmas.

I still really enjoy it…the satisfaction of finally finding the perfect gift, and then seeing the smile on their face when they get it…it’s all worth it. I think of it as a way of appreciating your friends and family, and maybe even significant others, and making their day, or their holiday, a little bit better.

I’ll probably spend a lot of time this month racking my brain and scouring the stores for those perfect gifts. At the same time, though, my anticipation and excitement for Christmas will grow.

As frustrating as it can be sometimes, Christmas is still my favourite holiday of the entire year…and it’s getting closer and closer!
