Spring Cleaning!

makeup

Happy first day of April! (Also known as April Fools. Don’t worry, I’m not going to play a joke on you through this post!)

Lately, I’ve been noticing that I’m running low on a few of my beauty products so I decided to make a list of what I needed. In the process, I decided to clean out all my beauty products. The box I kept my makeup in was a mess. Plus, there were a few products that I didn’t use enough and probably had to be thrown out because I’d had it for so long. And a few that didn’t really work out for me, but I thought that I might be able to use it up…I hadn’t.

This was actually pretty great, because I remembered some products that I didn’t dislike, just sort of forgot about. And some products that I wasn’t repurchasing because I used it so seldom.

And, in the end, my list of products I needed ended up being a lot smaller than I thought it would be. Of course, this is just for spring. I have some products I’m running low on, but I probably have enough to last me a few months, so I’ll make another mini-haul in the summer.

[Rant] Opened Lip Products (And Many Other Beauty Products)

So…I saw a lipstick that I wanted to get the other day and, after sifting through all 4 tubes (They didn’t have very many out), I realized that none of them had seals of any kind on them. And they all looked used. Well…okay.

I decided to go to a different store and discovered the same thing except I saw that one of them had some plastic wrap on the bottom, and realized they were all packaged up before, but people opened (and used) them all.

Well, okay then. I guess that explains why I never saw more than 4 tubes in any store, because if there were more, people would just open and test those ones. And they were plastic wrapped, too.

I don’t really get why people do that. Yes, there’s no tester (And it would be nice if there was one, because I’m sure people would be less prone to opening new ones if there was) so I can understand you want to know what the exact colour and consistency are like. But why open every single one? That seems pretty pointless to me.

This goes for a lot of beauty products. People opening new ones, even when there are already testers. It especially bothers me for lip products because, well…those things go on your lips. I don’t really want to buy something that I’m going to use on my lips that some other stranger has already used.

Okay, the testers have been used by who knows what kind of people. Fine. Then just don’t use them. That doesn’t mean it’s okay to open and test new ones, because if you do, then people are probably not going to buy that one so it’s a waste if you’re not going to buy one.

It honestly annoys me to no end when I see that people have opened and tried pretty much every single one on the shelf. Please, let’s just all be civil and respectful and good consumers, and not do things like this, okay?

[10 Days Until Christmas] Countdown to Christmas…More Favourites!

On my other blog, I have started a countdown of my favourite beauty products. On this blog, I have decided to just list what favourites I feel like, depending on the day. Today will be my top 10 makeup colours! These 10 colours are my favourites for eyes, lips, cheeks and nails (I’ll specify which).

1) Nude (Eyeshadow): Most of the time I wear eyeshadow, I’m wearing a nude barely there shade. This is super versatile and is great when I just want a natural, clean look.

2) Sparkly Pink (Eyeshadow): I like using this on lids for a bit or colour and to brighten up my lids, but I mostly use this on my waterline in order to pull my look together. It’s not as harsh as white or silver, which I really like.

3) Black (Eyeshadow): Not exactly a colour, but really…who can resist a good smokey eye? Mine aren’t usually very dramatic, but I admit that I do like how it looks. I love using just black eyeshadow on special occasions…you can’t go wrong with a classic.

4) Rose (Blush): This is my go-to colour since it gives me a pretty, natural looking flush. As you can probably tell, I’m more of a natural girl when it comes to makeup looks.

5) Apricot (Blush): This is a warmer colour that I like using during the summers. It’s also very natural looking but gives me a bit of a different look, which I like.

6) Pink (Lips): This is basically my perfect “My lips but better” look which I love so much. Works for everyday as well as formal occasions. Another natural look.

7) Red (Lips): Another classic…because, really, who doesn’t like the timeless red pout?

8) Coral (Lips): Being the natural makeup loving girl I am, I love the coral shades that lean towards the nude side. They’re really pretty and they look natural and clean, but also a little feminine, which I like.

9) Pale Pink (Nails): Some of you may already know that my HG nail polish is a sheer pink colour that almost looks as if you’re not wearing polish at all. It’s versatile and makes your nails look nice and healthy.

10) Sparkly Deep Blue (Nails): This is definitely not a natural look, I know…but sometimes I like experimenting with bright colours (On my nails, that is…I love doing nail art, so using bright colours is often a part of my nail routine). Blue is actually my favourite colour, so I love painting my nails with it.

Haul Excitement~

0011676

Hi everyone! So…some of you guys might know what I’m talking about here, and some other people might just think I’m a little crazy or something.

What I’m talking about is that feeling of anticipation when you’re about to order a haul (Or min-haul, like in my case), and while you’re waiting for the package to get here so that you can finally get your hands on those products you’ve been eyeing!

But maybe I’m just a little crazy and easily excitable, I don’t know.

Anyways, I just placed my order for a few products (To change up my winter skincare, and also to replace a few old products that aren’t as effective anymore) and I already can’t wait for my package to arrive.

Strangely enough, my packages always seem to arrive when I’ve placed them on the back burners and have almost forgotten about them…basically, they’re always a nice little surprise to receive in the mail because I always seem to get them when I don’t expect them.

They’re sort of like little presents…from me to me. But hey, a nice little surprise in the mail is always appreciated. And so is the opportunity to try new products…samples are always nice, right?

Soon it’ll be time to browse sites looking for the perfect presents…and, like last December, a bunch of boxes will be arriving in my mail then!

Leaving Hand Cream Out In Colder Temperatures…

TonyMoly Peach Anti-Aging Hand Cream

Hello everyone! So, if you’ve read some of my reviews, you might recall a review I did on the Tonymoly peach hand cream. Well…I have a funny story about that (That has taught me something new)…

So, as you all know, the weather has been getting colder, so my room’s been getting a lot chillier these past few weeks. I was almost at the bottom of my hand cream (And am now on the hunt for another to try…but that’s a different story altogether), and noticed that something strange was happening to it.

The consistency seemed to be getting a little thicker, but I just attributed that to the colder weather. However, after a few days, the cream actually turned into something that was less a cream and more a balm! I was pretty surprised, actually…

Obviously, I kept using it, but it was a pretty interesting experience. I would take out a chunk of the cream-turned-balm and warm it up between my hands, but no matter what I did it always took a lot of rubbing before it was absorbed into my skin. I basically had to rub it between my hands until it broke into smaller chunks and then rubbed those into my skin until everything was absorbed.

A little bit annoying, but hey…couldn’t let it just go to waste. And at least it still smelled good.

So, lesson of the day? Beware when leaving your hand cream out when the weather gets chillier.

Or maybe it’s just me and my weird luck.
