Inspired: Shouting to You

The Heirs_Poster

“Saying I’m sorry, saying I love you, you can’t hear it anymore. But now I am shouting out to you.” (Lee Hongki-I’m Saying)

I remember when I first heard this song while watching ‘Heirs’…I fell in love with it almost instantly. I also recognized Hongki’s voice, strong as usual.

I thought that the lyrics were a pretty good fit for the song and, though there is a hint of sadness in the lyrics, it is definitely a song that’s hopeful and touching. In fact, I thought that the sadness and the feeling of wanting to overcome that sadness present in the lyrics makes the song even better!

“I’m saying that I only look for you, I’m saying that I love you. I’m saying that I only see you, even when I close my eyes.”

Inspired: Someday, In Another Life

“This long journey is about to end but, someday, we will meet again. In the next life, we will see each other again.” (Park Bom-Don’t Cry)

I realized that I had to yet to get a female artist in this ‘Inspired’ series, so…here’s Park Bom and one of my favourite songs, “Don’t Cry”.

This song was released a few years ago, but I still love it even today. The MV was beautiful and the lyrics even more so. There a few lines from the song which I don’t think I can ever forget…the ones in this post are the ones that I found both the most touching and the most memorable.

I thought this song was pretty interesting, because it’s basically a break-up song and it’s pretty sad, but it also has a glimmer of hope.

“Here is the end for the both of us, and until the world would allow our love then, it’s okay baby, please don’t cry.”

Jung Yonghwa’s “One Fine Day” MV

To be honest, when I first saw that picture on the right, I had to do a double take because I wasn’t sure whether or not it was him…

So…where do I start?

How about by saying that I pretty much love MVs that have a storyline to them. Sure, sometimes parts don’t make sense (We should keep in mind they have less than 5 to convey an entire K-Drama sort of thing to us), but I don’t mind.

I absolutely loved this MV and this song…there’s no easy way to describe how I was feeling.

By minute 1, I had chills from the song and the MV.

By minute 2, I was rooting for the couple. But, since the song was a sad one, I spent this minute thinking, “No, no, no…this sounds like a really sad song. What’s going to happen to them?”

By minute 3, I knew the heartbreak was coming, but even knowing it before it happened didn’t stop my heart from aching for them, knowing the worst was yet to come. The worst always comes at the end.

By minute 4, I was (silently) screaming: “Yonghwa no! No, no, no, no, no…please come back. Don’t turn away. Yonghwa no, why!?”

And then, at the very end, when they saw eachother…I felt as if I lived through a mini-drama with this couple (Which I suppose I had) and felt a pang in my chest seeing them pass by eachother like that, each with another person.

I wanted them to just run to eachother at that point, but knew there was no way it was going to happen. It was strange because it felt as if it was over…but it wasn’t. Which was pretty much the same way I felt when the MV ended. I think this is going to be one that sticks with me. A beautiful song and an MV that really touches my heart? I remember those best.

So, in short…Yonghwa has managed to capture my heart and make it hurt, too. All in the span of 4 and a half minutes. Oh, K-Pop…what am I going to do with you?

However, I am so incredibly happy that Yonghwa has debuted as a solo artist…I think he’s a talented guy (Not that the rest of CNBlue isn’t, they definitely are) and he’s also my bias…which probably explains a lot. The fact that he composed the songs for these albums…talented Yonghwa, you’ve reminded me once again of why I support you so much.

Anyways…I’m off to re-watch the MV!

Korean Dramas And Their Male Characters

So…Joo Won was definitely not the greatest guy in the beginning, but he had more than won me over by the end.

So…anybody who’s seen at least 1 Korean drama probably knows what I’m talking about when I say that a lot of male characters in these dramas are either impossibly perfect or miraculously both flawed yet still perfect. Especially a lot of those second male leads (Second Male Lead Syndrome exists for a reason, you know).

The more I watch these, the more I think impossible things, like: “I want a mind-reading boyfriend” and “I wonder if I’ll ever find a guy that good looking” (The answer to that second one, by the way, is ‘no’).

So, when I saw this article on AllKpop, I thought that it was a pretty good summary of the way that I feel about these male characters. Especially Young Do and Soo Ha. And I probably shouldn’t approve of Young Do (During the first episodes, I didn’t…but he got to me pretty soon). But I do. But he’s just a fictional character…it’s allowed, I’m sure.

King 2 Hearts

Hi everyone! Note: Spoilers ahead! (But I can’t spoil the ending for anyone…I haven’t even finished it myself…)

So…this is the drama that I’m currently watching. I thought it might be a nice and light drama…I guess it wasn’t as intense as, say, ‘IRIS’, but this definitely kept me on the edge of my seat during a lot of scenes.

The only other dramas I’ve ever seen Seung Gi in are ‘Brilliant Legacy’ and ‘The Greatest Love’ (His cameo appearance was hilarious) and, after seeing this one, it makes me wonder why Seung Gi is always playing the rich bachelor who also happens to be a jerk, as most rich bachelors are in K-Drama land. Or at least not a great person in general. Oh well.

I’ve always loved Ha Ji Won’s characters, though…especially in this drama. A female lead that can save herself when she gets kidnaps? And the male lead, too? That is just awesome.

Sure, there are lots of female leads out there who are great but can’t really do anything when they captured. But then there’s Hang Ah, who threatens to stab herself with sunglasses and starts giving orders to her captors, and then plans a pretty successful escape. And we can’t forget the way she single-handedly took out the guys on the carousel, saving Jae Ha.

Seriously…she’s an incredibly memorable character.

And watching Jae Ha grow up and mature…it was really satisfying. And, though he started out as a jerk, he became so incredibly sweet that I went from wanting someone to punch him in the face to swooning over him.

And then there’s Shi Kyung…an impossibly idealistic guy, even in K-Drama land. It broke my heart seeing all of those ideals being shattered (By his father, nonetheless!), and his death…I don’t know if I can get over that.

The princess, Jae Shin, was another character that I loved. It was great how rebellious she was in the beginning and, after her accident, it was amazing watching her go from someone fragile to someone who was incredibly strong. The moment when she stood on stage and gave her speech…I very literally felt shivers going down my spine just watching it.

I just hope that this drama has a good ending…I hate it when an amazing drama is ruined by a terrible last episode.

Inspired: The Love I Dreamed Of

“Why am I like this? Why do I keep thinking of you? I guess the love I dreamed of is you.” (Jung Yup-Why Did You Come Now)

I just recently finished watching ‘I Hear Your Voice’ and basically fell in love not only with the drama and the characters (Especially Soo Ha), I also fell in love with the OST. It fits the drama perfectly and I had a hard time deciding which songs I liked best.

This song was one of my favourites from the OST, and the lyrics were so sweet that I decided to create an ‘Inspired’ post about them.

My absolute favourite song from the OST is an instrumental, though, so there are no lyrics or anything to really post. So I decided to choose this one. It does have my favourite lyrics from the entire OST, though.

I had also noticed that most of my ‘Inspired’ posts were pretty dreary (I guess I just like sad songs, more), so I decided to get something a little more hopeful and cheerful in here.

So here it is!

“Why did you come? Where were you? It seems like it’s a bit late, but we finally meet.”

Jonghyun’s “BASE”

150103_Jonghyun_BASE_Solo Album_Teaser

As always, Jonghyun looks amazing…but this is even better because it’s a teaser for his upcoming solo album!

January 12th…the day I didn’t know I had been waiting for pretty much all my life as a SHAWOL.

That’s the day Jonghyun’s FINALLY making his solo debut. I am beyond excited about this and the teaser looks great.

One of the best possible ways K-Pop could’ve ushered in the new year of 2015…I’m excited for this year already!

Kpop-apocalypse 2014…

I know this image isn’t exactly relevant, but it was one of the first things that came up when I searched up “Kpop-apocalypse 2014” on Google Images, and I just found it really funny…so here it is.

This was a pretty big thing this year…pretty much everything that happened was related back to this.

And a lot of stuff happened…a lot of it was bad, too, so I guess I could understand.

What I’m really curious about, though, is whether or not all of this bad stuff will continue into 2015, or if it’ll end with the year, like everybody is hoping for.

Obviously, I’m hoping for it to end, but I can’t help but wonder if it really is just 2014 or if it’s just…well, a Kpop-apocalypse in general without a real concrete end in sight. I really hope it’s not the latter.

Well…there are only a few days until the start of 2015, and then Kris’s and Luhan’s mediations are in January and we’ll soon know the fate of MBLAQ…I guess it won’t be long before we have our answer.

[2 Days Until Christmas] Countdown to Christmas…Favourite K-Pop MVs!

So…we are so close to Christmas…and the countdown is almost over!

Today’s list is my absolute favourite K-Pop Mvs of all time. I know I previously did a post on my favourite Youtube videos, but that was on my favourite ones from this year.

I would like to also mention Taeyang’s “Wedding Dress”…another one of my favourites. And K.Will’s “Please Don’t…”. Not only touching and sad, but also incredibly unexpected and memorable.

1) Why Did I Fall In Love With You-DBSK: This MV was really sad, but I really liked the plot. It wasn’t like a lot of MVs where there seems to be a plot, but it’s non-sensical…this one was not only good, but sad.

2) Haru Haru-Big Bang: Big Bang has a lot of good MVs…but this one is my absolute favourite out of all of them. I still cry when I watch it.

This post was pretty difficult for me…there are so many good MVs to choose from! Of course, all of these songs are also some of my absolute favourites. A good song definitely needs a great MV!

[4 Days Until Christmas] Countdown to Christmas…Korean Dramas!

Yesterday’s post was about Youtube videos…and today’s is about something that consumes even more of my time in general…Korean dramas.

A special mention for ‘Dream High’…while it isn’t on this list, it is definitely one of my favourites!

Here are my 4 favourites…it was hard to choose!

1) Goong: I became fans of both Yoon Eun Hye and Joo Ji Hoon through this drama. Oh, and we can’t forget Kim Jeong Hoon (He was the cause of one of my worst cases of Second Male Lead Syndrome ever…). A rags to riches sort of Cinderella-esque (But also not really…it’s gard to explain) sort of drama, this is my absolute favourite.

2) You’re Beautiful: There’s no way Shin Hye could’ve passed for a boy in real life (Especially with that singing voice…which her twin brother also apparently has, which I thought was a little weird), but this drama was really good despite that. Kang Shin Woo is and will always be my absolute favourite K-Drama male character ever. And this was probably the only drama I experienced Third Male Lead Syndrome watching…

3) Operation Proposal: The drama that introduced me to the amazing actor that is Yoo Seung Ho. One of the only actors that ever got me bawling with him almost every time. A memorable drama and one that was funny, touching, sad and absolutely wonderful all at the same time.

4) Boys Over Flowers: I know, I know…of course this would be here, right? But it’s a classic…and I really did love it. Second Male Lead Syndrome was also intense during this drama…I loved Rui in the manga, and I loved Ji Hoo in the drama. Plus, he played violin. But really…this is just one of those dramas that pretty much every fan has watched. And that’s still popular. But for a good reason.

Some of you will agree with some of my choices, others won’t…and we’re all entitled to our own opinions.

Anyways, hope you enjoyed today’s post…maybe it’ll give a few of you something to do over the holidays, too!
